Greyfriars Prison Gates

Prison gates - inside Greyfriars Churchyard, Edinburgh, where Thomas Brownlee, the Laird of Torfoot, was imprisoned with hundreds of others after the Battle of Philliphaugh, prior to transportation to the West Indies. On the way they were shipwrecked on the Orkney Islands, and he made good his escape.
