The site of Garrion Mill on the River Clyde |
||||
The fast flowing waters of the River Clyde powered the water wheel for the Brownlee's Garrion Mill. The mill race can still be seen in the top right quadrant of this photograph. One of the buildings, now a dwelling, still stands overlooking the river at left. The beautiful old Brownlee mansion can just be seen at top left on the hill overlooking the Clyde. The old and new Garrion Bridge are just out of the photograph at left and the road passes a number of quaint Brownlee cottages on the Garrion side of the bridge.
